Growing up on Takapuna Beach in Auckland, New Zealand I have always had a strong connection with the ocean and spent much of my early years between waves. The power of what waves represent being waves of emotion, waves of energy and musical sound waves brought together the combination of elements that aligned with my passions to inspire the creation of Between Waves Breathwork.

I developed a deep love for music at an early age, leading to a professional DJing career where I witnessed the transformative power of sound, vibration and frequency to shift waves of energy and emotion. Creating the ideal atmosphere involved not only music but how we light a space and the people involved. Each one of these plays a significant role in creating a safe comfortable environment for any desired outcome. These powerful insights laid the foundations that led to my profound understanding of how breath, rhythm and connection can positively transform our mental and physical states.

This journey led me through more than two decades in hospitality, where I built and ran bars, restaurants and nightclubs across three continents. At the heart of it all I was crafting more than businesses I was creating spaces where people connected deeply, where community was felt and where the energy of each gathering could transform a moment. In those years I refined the art of curating atmospheres where people felt safe, inspired and open to connection.

Later when I founded The Little Paws Pack a dog socialising business in Bondi Beach, I explored the psychological behaviour of animals. Learning how to nurture them into a calm and safe place to offer them the space to relax and let their guard down allowing them time to regulate their fight, flight and freeze responses. From this I truly understood how expanding their window of tolerance helped them meet real-life situations with greater calm and resilience just as we too can learn to face life’s stressors from a balanced place.

I wrote and published a children’s book, “Friends for All Seasons,” based on The Little Paws Pack’s adventures. It supported me and my dog Jet as we visited special needs schools and children’s hospitals. The opportunity to contribute and connect with the community was incredibly rewarding, showing me once again how simple acts of connection ripple out and touch lives.

When we moved to Mollymook Beach to raise our young family, I stepped into the corporate world of technology and blockchain. While I achieved professional success, burnout soon followed. Through that burnout, I rediscovered breathwork as a tool to restore balance and bring me back to myself. In that clarity, I recognised that many others face similar struggles not only in their work lives but also in managing busy home. With a desire to give back to the community, I knew I could share this powerful practice helping others find the same alignment and connection to presence that had saved me.

Now as a breathwork facilitator, I’ve come full circle using connection, rhythm and breath to fufill my passion in building a healthier community. Whether in the corporate environment, through workshops, one-on-ones or community gatherings our breath can unlock the answers to the questions still waiting to be asked. Working together to enhance performance, improve sleep, reduce stress and elevate overall heath your breath will always be there to guide you and carry you home between waves.
